Twenty Years of gute aussichten: Same As Always, But Different!

To celebrate our monumental twentieth anniversary, we would like to introduce the 2023/2024 award winners as well as present the format that was developed especially for this occasion: gute aussichten FOKUS Mexico–Germany | The Art of Photography in an Intercultural Dialogue.

Seven gute aussichten 2023/2024 Award Winners

The works of this year’s award winners examine borders and move beyond borders: „The Last Sign“ by Béla Avi Beinhold brings up issues of when and why a society closes itself to the suffering of others. „Contrapasso“ by Massimiliano Corteselli tells of personal feuds, revenge, and corruption. In „No Georgian Dream“ Lea Greub searches for the dreams of young people in Georgia. In „Other Images“ Matthias Grund literally gets to the bottom of the mechanisms and systems of artificial image production. In „Synthetic Embrace“ Lia Lehmkuhl examines hidden yet powerful structures behind seemingly well-intentioned digital “friends.” In „The Psyche, the Body, and the Environment Are Inseparably Interlinked and Influence Each Other“, Denisa Poteca focuses on her own bipolar disorder. Maya Vieth creates a docufictional space full of poetry in „As We Sleep, Wolves Are Out Prowling“.

For the 158 gute aussichten award winners to date, gute aussichten has organized over 170 exhibitions with over forty cooperating partners in fifty cities all over the world. We would like to extend a big thank-you to our jury members, authors, exhibition partners, cooperation partners, and media partners; to all the supporters who have held our hands and warmed our hearts; to our award winners; and to all the people who have visited our exhibitions.
